Bipod

The XJ-57 Bipedal Walking Weapons Platform (also known as the Bipod) is a Commando Elite mechanized walker used against the Gorgonites. It is a recurring enemy featured in the PlayStation 1 game.

Sporting the latest destructive Commando technology, the model XJ-57 Bipedal Walking Weapons Platform is a Commando's best friend- and a menace to Gorgonite society.

Bipods as they appear in the game's artwork in the credits of the game.

The Bipod is (as its name implies) a bipedal robot armed with a concealed side-mounted gun. The gun ejects out from the Bipod's triangular side panels when attacking targets. It has two optical lenses on its nose which are painted over with a sharp-toothed mouth.

Gameplay[]

Like most Commando Elite ground units, Bipods are incapable of jumping however, this is compensated by their speed on the battlefield; capable of maintaining enough speed to follow a player controlled Commando in two-player mode. They are also fast enough to escort War Machines with a relatively close proximity. In spite of their fast movement speed, the Bipod lacks the element of stealth as a result of their loud clacking/clattering footsteps; a trait shared with War Machines and Mortars. Their cannons inflict fairly light damage that is compensated by their moderate rate of fire (one round every half second) and their deadly accuracy.

Summon Locations[]

In Player 2 Mode, Bipods can be summoned by Chip Hazard in the levels:
