Brick Bazooka. Artillery. Ready to go full-bore, Sir!
―Brick Bazooka to Chip Hazard🗩

Brick Bazooka is an animatronic toy, and a secondary antagonist of Small Soldiers.

Brick was designed by Larry Benson, an employee of Heartland Play Systems, for the Small Soldiers toy line. He is a heavy-weapons G.I. and second-in-command of the Commando Elite, full of energy and deeply dedicated to his unit. His surname is an obvious reference to the widely known World War II rocket launcher.

Design

Built like the brick he was named after, Bazooka is a stereotypical muscle-for-brains soldier, willing to lay down his life for his squad. He chooses to forego any kind of armour in favour of a plain vest, as if fresh out of boot camp, and appears to have the largest muscles on the team.

He's kind of zany. The idea with him is he's sort of the big, dumb football guy. He'll do anything. He's a big powerhouse. He has drywall screws mounted on his hands. He's the one who launches himself onto Alan's bike and ends up getting throttled and thrashed. The boys have to put him back together, so he gets a little scuffed up, a little worse for wear.

Small Soldiers (film)

Brick was sent on a solo mission to assassinate Archer, the leader of the Gorgonites. Launched via slingshot, he intercepted Alan Abernathy while riding his bicycle, and climbed his way up to Alan's backpack, where Archer was hiding. With almost no direct intervention besides a chasing dog, Brick lost his grip and fell onto the bike's chain belt, which launched him into the wheel spokes, smashing him into pieces. Detached from his lower-half, he pulled his torso across the tarmac to the communicator on his belt, reporting mission failure and requesting backup. The Commandos came to his aid and reassemble him, allowing him to return to active duty.

Brick and all the other Commando Elite (except Chip Hazard) fell into a pond after a chase mission went wrong, destroying them.

Chip later activated more versions of Brick from Toy World for the final battle, but they too were destoyed when their X-1000 Chips were fried by an EMP.

Other Appearances

Small Soldiers: Squad Commander (Video Game)
Brick Bazooka appears as a playable character during the Commando Elite campaign, and as an enemy during the Gorgonite campaign. His voice is notably higher-pitched than his film counterpart, and he speaks with a distinct New York accent.

Trivia

  • In the bicycle chase scene, when Brick Bazooka's legs are dismembered, as he falls you can hear a Wilhelm scream.
  • A Brick Bazooka with similar white bandages to the original figure can be seen in the final assault on Alan's house. It is unknown if this is the original who survived, or a reused asset.[citation needed]
