Gil Mars is the CEO of Globotech Industries, and a tertiary antagonist in Small Soldiers. He acts as a foil to the subplot's tritagonist, Irwin Wayfair, and epitomises corporate capitalism.

He's arrogant, greedy, overconfident, and narcissistic who always wanted to stay one step ahead of his competitors. While greedy, he does want to make and sell genuinely good products instead of relying on misleading advertisements to sell mediocre ones.^{[citation needed]}

This is reflected when he tasked toymakers Larry Benson and Irwin Wayfair develop actual live-action toys capable of "playing back". Mars selects Larry's soldiers, the Commando Elite, for the project, and Irwin's creatures, the Gorgonites, for their enemies. 

He was also responsible for forgoing safety testing and setting a short production time for the toys, which lead to the entire incident of the film.

Later, he not only bribes everyone to keep quiet about the incident to protect the company's name and to keep his company going, but even pays for the damages to the homes of the Abernathys and Fimples. He decides not to sell the Commando Elite to kids anymore and will instead have them reprogrammed for military missions against rebels in South America. 

He was disappointed that the toys would never be a big hit in toy stores, though he smiled in approval at seeing Alan and Christy kiss, remarking that it would have made "a hell of a commercial". He is last seen returning to the Heartland Playsystems with Larry and Irwin.

Trivia

• Gil's last name being Mars is a reference to Mars, the Roman God of War. This is befitting since GloboTech manufactures weapons for the military.^{[citation needed]}
